Assistant Controller
Job Description
The Assistant Controller will perform a variety of accounting functions supporting the Controller, Sr. VP of Finance, and the Accounting Department as a whole. These duties require a considerable level of professional judgement and analytical ability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in producing accurate and timely financial statements in a multi-company environment.
Assist in the month end closing and financial reporting process including maintaining the monthly closing calendar, account analysis and reconciliation.
Monitor balance sheet review, account reconciliations and variances between current year and prior year results.
Provide recommendations for proper accounting methods, policies and principles in accordance with GAAP.
Supervise members of the accounting team.
Provide guidance and leadership to the accounting team to promote career development.
Review, approve and post journal entries.
Participate in the new ERP implementation.
Assist in year end closing and interaction with outside auditors & tax preparers.
Assist in preparation of annual budgets for corporate items with the Financial Planning & Analysis team.
Work with shared service partner on issues related to financial statements and other requests.
Assist in special projects as necessary.
RequirementsJob Requirements
Bachelor's degree required Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
A minimum of five to seven years of accounting experience.
Industry experience is a plus but not required.
Significant experience with GAAP.
Accounting software application
Microsoft Excel and Word
General ledger
Strong organizational and time management skills.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Good oral and written communications skills, detail orientation and problem solving ability.
Ability to occasionally travel as required.
