Sr Software Engineer - Digital Platform (JAVA)
iSpot.tv is a fast growing venture backed start-up with rapidly ramping revenues. We have a product that is changing how brands, agencies and networks measure and assess the impact of TV advertising campaigns. Our software uses proprietary audio and video analysis to monitor and extract TV commercials, movie trailers and other promotional content from TV. At the same time, our software analyzes consumer interactions with TV ads on the digital screen across search, video and social. Interactions are matched with specific ads and attributed back to airings on TV.
This is a rare opportunity to get equity in the early stages of a company with significant early traction and which is run by an experienced team.
We are looking for someone that is HIGHLY motivated and knows how to get things done quickly and efficiently. We are not looking for a coding robot -- we are looking for someone that's highly creative and has an insatiable appetite for learning new things and accomplishing challenging goals in a fast moving (and not always structured) environment.
Responsibilities will include:
Work on developing new capabilities for our real-time consumer engagement engine to monitor and analyze consumer engagement with TV ads.
Develop social media data mining, analysis and semantic solutions for matching up social activity with TV advertising.
Integrate new data sources for tracking consumer activities.
Develop new capabilities around attribution of consumer digital activity to TV ad airings.
Develop quality control tools and algorithms to ensure quality and accuracy of the data.
Contribute to the scaling and ongoing performance of the platform.
Develop internal monitoring tools and processes to improve platform.
Besides being highly motivated and valuing the significant equity opportunity, we are looking for someone that has:
BS degree in Computer Science and 5
years of industry experience in JAVA
Proficiency with OO language concepts and design patterns
MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle experience
Experience with RDBMS scaling challenges, data modeling, XML processing, SOAP, REST, HTTP, JSON
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
Knowledge of best practices of software development including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience with Eclipse IDE
Additionally, we love to see experience in the following areas:
Experience with Natural Language Processing or other semantics-based Processing
Experience with Lucene/SOLR
Familiarity with Spring/Hibernate/Mybatis/Ibatis
Previous experience with OAUTH and Twitter APIs
Experience using and managing AWS/EC2/S3
