Position Description
Within Expedia's Lodging, Packages, and Meta Services (LPMS) group, the Expedia Search Solutions (ESS) team is searching for an energetic enterprise E-Commerce systems expert to fulfill the role of Dev Ops/Application Engineer supporting Expedia''s production E-Commerce systems. This is a fast paced team and seeks a motivated and self-managed person to be an integral part of the team.
As an Application Engineer II with the LPMS, ESS team you will be responsible for working with Architecture, Development and Test teams to design, implement, and support for enterprise E-Commerce application systems.
Responsibilities:
Engineering and operationally supporting new and current production applications, systems, and supporting infrastructure.
Systems analysis, such as capacity review, support management, application level monitoring, documentation, and improvement analysis for new and existing production systems.
Provide extensive troubleshooting, proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution, as well as accepting escalations for issue resolution, to deter and halt impacts on service delivery.
Working with software development teams to drive projects into production, implementing and applying engineering and operational best practices.
Utilizing engineering and operational support expertise to set and improve existing standards and processes for application and systems administration.
Focused on the direct monetary impact of live site events that affect the company.
Requirements:

Years of demonstrated work experience within a large scale E-Commerce production environment.
Expertise in driving projects, often with tight deadlines, into production environments with little to no downtime.
Collaboratively working with a development counterpart to drive engineering and operational guidelines for projects and initiatives.
Mentorship skills that will guide24x7 support staff with troubleshooting and system support.
Strong scripting language background (Perl/bash/python or equivalent)
Demonstrated ability to work on a team with minimal management direction.
Ability to participate in a rotational on call environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT Systems preferred.
Qualifications/Skills:
Expertise with Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Linux (Red Hat/CentOS), 32bit and 64bit, Enterprise server products in an large environment.
Experience implementing and managing services in a Virtual environment.
Remote management of systems and applications.
Expertise in design, implementation, and support of enterprise level transactional E-Commerce systems.
Experience with Apache Tomcat on Win32.
JVM and Java on Win32.
Solid understanding of security fundamentals as they pertain to application systems, such as SSL, JKS, and Domain Security.
Strong interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills, with a proven track record of managing and/or facilitating work across multiple functional teams
Understanding and troubleshooting IP networks.
Proven support documentation skills.
Proven support in network and application diagram creation.
Proven implementation project plan creation.
Bonus Skills:
SQL experience.
Previous testing experience.
Industry certifications.
Proven expertise with one or more of the following scripting languages; VBS, PERL, ASP, , WSH, WMI is a plus
