Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for month end close, reconciliations, analysis and the reporting and calculation of revenue for our life insurance commissions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting and also be interested to tackle more complex areas involving revenue recognition accounting.
Key
Responsibilities:
Perform month-end closing activities and account reconciliations that relate to the revenue recognition of the life insurance commissions revenue
Be an analytic subject matter expert in life insurance commissions revenue
Participate in revenue analytics to provide monthly financial reporting data for the Controller
Provide ad-hoc analysis for revenue and carrier related data for various product offerings.
Review carrier contracts and related document to identify appropriate life insurance commissions calculations for each carrier
Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls requirements, including updating documentation and policies as required.
Provide support for the quarterly business reviews and quarterly/annual audits performed by internal and independent auditors.
Provide support to accounting staff with issues related to accounting and financial reporting.
Provide advice on accounting matters such as implementation of new accounting standards and changes in processes.
Must have experience performing monthly account reconciliations.
Must have experience Preparing journal entries as needed, including elimination entries
Education &
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Must have experience with revenue recognition or other complex accounting issues
3-5 years of experience in accounting / finance related role.
Advanced Excel skills; VLOOUP, graphs, charts, data analysis etc.

Strong analytical and organization skills.
Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and multi-task to meet specific deadlines.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
