This hands-on role provides strategic leadership to the development team and is actively involved in all phases of the software development process: design, development, stabilization, and release.
The Director of Engineering oversees and participates in architecture design, code reviews, test automation, and setting and holding the team accountable for engineering best practices. We require hands-on experience building and operating systems on a global scale with a deep engineering background.
The emphasis of this role is on technical planning, project operations, and organizational and process efficiency. We seek a leader who has successfully managed multiple development teams employing a host of product development methodologies to deliver quality SaaS products.
What you'll do:
Champion product design, project management and quality assurance best practices.
Actively participate in reviewing and authoring business analysis and functional specifications.
Communicate cross functionally with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Resolve tactical issues pertaining to project management and product development processes.
Provide direct management to developers on the engineering team including hiring, mentoring and performance management.
Conduct strategic technical planning for the team.
Actively cultivate a collaborative, high-performance environment to grow the development capabilities of the team.
Qualifications:
4
years group/team leadership experience including hiring, mentoring and all phases of performance management.
8
years project leadership experience.
5
years of experience with PHP, Microsoft .NET framework, SQL and related technologies.
BS in
computer
science, engineering, or related field. MS is desirable.
Proven hands-on experience managing simultaneous projects and fulfilling feature, quality and cost objectives. Extraordinary time management skills.
Proven track record of effective communication with all areas of the business to ensure stakeholder alignment.
Experience with strategic technical analysis and planning.
Strong knowledge of software project management and quality assurance disciplines.
Deep knowledge of product development practices and methodologies. Hands-on experience in a SaaS environment is preferred.
Familiarity with technical industry trends germane to the company.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to influence.
