eBay Inc. seeks, Data Scientist in Bellevue, Washington.
Job Duties: Work closely with Business Units, Product Development, and Product Management teams to identify and answer important business and product questions. Communicate insights to eBay North America executives and Europe Internet Marketing business. Work with global teams on ad-hoc projects and take a key analytic role in international projects and initiatives. Research, evaluate, implement, and present statistical methods to provide actionable insights. Define new metrics and help drive business/engineering team using the right metrics. Research new ways for modeling and predicting user behavior. Solve analytical problems using quantitative approaches; major statistical analysis tools; relational database; and scripting languages. Utilize knowledge and experience with the creation and implementation of statistical predictive models; online experimentation and associated statistical models. Assess the statistical significance of performance differences between models, e.g. hypothesis testing to compare a model with new features to an already deployed model; communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and non-technical customers; distributed computing tools; and large data sets. Work in a team environment.
Minimum Requirements: Ph.D., or its foreign equivalent, in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or one (1) year of experience as a Data Scientist or Research Scientist or Masters degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience as Data Scientist or Research Scientist.
Special Skill Requirements: Experience must include the following: R, Matlab, or SAS; SQL or relational database; Fluency in at least one scripting language such as Perl, Python or Fortran; Statistical predictive models including algorithms, decision trees, regression, clustering, and association; Experience with online experimentation and associated statistical models including A/B testing or test/control groups; experience with large data sets. Any suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
